2025 Homecoming Week at CHS

Many activities have taken place during Homecoming Week at Cook High School. This year’s theme is “Cartoons: Animation Domination” The students have had the opportunity to demonstrate their spirit by participating in the following dress-up days: Marvel Monday – unleash your inner Marvel superhero, Timeless Tuesday – Seniors & Juniors dress as the elderly; Sophomores & Freshmen dress as babies., Wild Wednesday – wear your jungle/safari prints, Throwback Thursday – dress in attire from any past decade, and Football Friday will be Class Colors – (12th/black, 11th/white, 10th/gold, 9th/gray).

Also, thank you to the local businesses for allowing the classes to work on floats at their facilities after business hours the week of Homecoming.

The parade will be on Thursday, August 21, starting at 7 p.m., with the grade levels decorating with the following board games: 12th: SpongeBob SquarePants; 11th: Space Jam / Looney Tunes; 10th: The Flintstones; and 9th: The Amazing World of Gumball.

The Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday, August 23, from 7-11 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Tickets for the dance can be purchased at the door for $15 per person or via My School Bucks. Students with dates who do not attend Cook High School must present a waiver signed by the CHS Administration prior to the dance. These forms can be picked up in the front office of Cook High School through Wednesday, August 20. The students will present these forms as they purchase the tickets at the door on the night of the dance.

Students voted on the Homecoming Court prior to the week of Homecoming. Each underclassman class has three girls representing their class. The girl who received the most votes in the underclassmen grades is considered the class attendant and the two runner-ups are representatives. The seniors have five girls representing the Class of 2026. All ladies will participate in the Homecoming Pep Rally and Parade, but only the attendants and queen candidates will be presented during the halftime festivities at the football game on Friday, August 22. The game against the Bainbridge Bearcats will begin at 7:30 pm at Veterans Field at Cook Memorial Stadium.

Congratulations to the following seniors for being selected as the 2025-2026 Homecoming Queen Candidates. The candidates include Garbrielle Clanton, daughter of Angelina Clanton and Michael Clanton; Ta’niya Jones, daughter of Gunilla Jones and Robert McCormick Sr.; Kadence Lasseter, daughter of Justin Lasseter and Misty Lasseter; Kennedi McMillian, daughter of Nakima Hendley; and Ashli Williams, daughter of Dr. Gerald and Dr. Joi Williams.

The queen will be crowned during halftime at Friday night’s football game against Bainbridge.

For the pep rally, the ladies of the Homecoming Court have chosen gentlemen in their respective classes to escort them: Gabrielle will be escorted by Brooks Moore; Ta’niya will be escorted by James Wiggins; Kadence will be escorted by Hunter Fulghum; Kennedi will be escorted by MJ Tippins; and Ashli will be escorted by Jonathan McDonald.

Representing the 11th grade class are: Shaniria McCormick (Attendant), daughter of Tabitha and Robert McCormick; Paris Carter (Representative), daughter of Jerdinna Carter and Kareem Hendley; and Acacia Patterson (Representative), daughter of Dementia and Jackie Arnold. Escorts for the pep rally are as follows: Shaniria will be escorted by Jayden Joiner; Paris will be escorted by Malcolm Merritt; and Acacia will be escorted by Kam Mathis.

11th Grade

Representing the 10th grade class are: Cadence Smith (Attendant), daughter of Arleisha McKinnon; Essence Covington (Representative), daughter of Elic and Leander Covington; and Isabella Howell (Representative), daughter of Chris and Crystal Howell. Escorts for the pep rally are as follows: Cadence will be escorted by Cayson Smith; Essence will be escorted by Reno Hendley; and Isabella will be escorted by Reece Tomlinson.
