CHS Theatre Wing places third in Region 1-AA
Congratulations to the Cook High School Theatre Wing on their 3rd place win at the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Region 1-AA One Act Play Competition for their performance of Roald Dahl’s “Matilda the Musical.”
The GHSA One Act Play Competition was held at Cook High School on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023. Six high schools competed.
CHS Theatre Wing also had several students receive individual awards, including Best Supporting Actress: Megan Lawrence – Matilda Wormwood; Best Supporting Actor: Jordan Daniels – Bruce Bogtrotter; GHSA Region Cast Member: Maliq Vickers – Mr. Wormwood; and GHSA Region Cast Member: Savanna Hodges – Miss Agatha Trunchbull.
“We are so incredibly proud of these talented students,” said Elizabeth Powell, CHS Theatre Wing advisor. “It was an incredibly competitive season this year, and they shined!”
The Theatre Wing’s public performances for Roald Dahl’s “Matilda the Musical” began Friday evening, Nov. 3. Graduating Thespian Seniors were recognized at the opening night performance.
The public performances of this award-winning production will continue this week at the Carolyn Harris Performing Arts Center with shows on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 5:30 p.m.; Thursday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m.; and Friday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, and can be purchased on MySchoolBucks or at the door. Box office will open 15 minutes before showtime.
