Shaniria McCormick had two in the park home runs (ANDY PARKERS). The Lady Hornets scored 42 runs in three games of nine innings.
Maci gets shutout over Dodge 3-0
Due to rainouts, the Lady Hornets hosted Dodge on Friday, Sept. 29.
Maci Padgett shut down Dodge County. Throwing seven innings, she gave up four hits, struck out five, and walked none.
This was a pitching duel. Cook only had four hits as Chloe Stone, Maci Padgett, Kadence Lasseter, and Emily Craft had one hit each.
In the first inning, Dodge led off with a hit. The next two batters were out. The lead off tried to steal, and Annaleigh Weaver threw her out by a mile to end the inning.
Chloe Stone got a hit in the bottom to score Krisley Arnold, to put Cook up 1-0.
In the bottom of the third, Padgett was on second with two outs when Emily Craft hit a shot to center field that scored Maci 2-0.
Padgett led off the bottom of the fifth with a hit. She stole second and went to third on an error. Chloe Stone brought her home. 3-0, Cook; and that was it. A very important win in Region 1AA.
Jenny Keever’s big day at the plate in win over Dodge 10-6
This game was tight all the way. Jenny Keever and Krisley Arnold both had three hits. Keever had six RBIs with a home run. Abby Griffis had 2 hits. Maci Padgett, Chloe Stone, Amari Mapps, Kadence Lasseter, and Shaniria McCormick each had one hit. The Lady Hornets had 13 hits in all.
Chloe Stone got the start on the mound. She went seven innings, allowing 10 hits and six runs while striking out one.
Dodge finally got us 6-0
In the second game on Saturday, the win streak came to an end for the Lady Hornets.
We just could not generate any runs for the first time this year. With only three hits, it is hard to score runs.
Maci Padgett was on the mound for Cook. She went six innings, allowed eight hits and six runs, walked none, and struck out four batters.
Keever, McCormick and Padgett each had a hit.
Flat may be a good word to describe our Lady Hornets in the game. Maybe the pressure of being undefeated this late in the season. They were the only AA team in the top 25 that was undefeated.. The Lady Hornets are now 22-1. Nothing to fret about an undefeated season now. Just GO AND WIN!!!
Playing Worth this week with two games on Thursday at the Nest. By then, we will have played the Lady Rams in Sylvester.
