2023 Band Camp prepares Marching Hornets for halftime show
In the scorching summer heat, the members of the Cook High School Marching Hornets demonstrated their commitment and passion as they completed their intensive two-week band camp, preparing for their upcoming halftime show (starting on Friday, Aug. 18, at the Pelham game).
The camp, organized by the Marching Hornets Staff, proved to be a resounding success, leaving a trail of success and excitement.
With the sun beating down, the Marching Hornets endured their practice sessions, bettering their musical skills and learning their coordinated movements on the field. Their hard work paid off as they made significant progress in finishing their halftime show that is based on going to space and songs associated with space.
July 27th served as a momentous occasion for the Marching Hornets and their supporters as they showcased their hard work at a special performance for family and friends. The evening was bright with sound and movement, drawing an enthusiastic audience of over 400 people.
A heartfelt expression of gratitude goes out to the supportive community and the Board of Education, whose unwavering support and encouragement made the band camp possible. Their commitment to fostering the arts and nurturing the talent of Cook County’s youth played a pivotal role in making this year’s band camp an extraordinary success. An additional shoutout goes to the CHS Football Team and Coach Slack for treating the Marching Hornets to an afternoon treat with Coneheads Shaved Ice. The Marching Hornets can’t wait to cheer the Hornet Football team to victory this Fall.
Jacob Fortner, Director of Bands, expressed his admiration for the dedication and determination shown by the young musicians during the camp. “The hard work and enthusiasm displayed by the Marching Hornets is truly commendable. Their passion for music and their commitment to excellence have set the stage for an exceptional halftime show this season,” he said.
As the band members now gear up for the football season, they carry with them the invaluable experiences gained from band camp. Their music, their routines, and their friendship have evolved to new heights, promising an unforgettable season ahead.
