Mr. Kenneth Lee Ratts, 85

Mr. Kenneth Lee Ratts, 85, of Adel passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024 at his home. Kenneth was born December 19, 1938 in Martinsville, Indiana to the late Clyde Gilbert Ratts and Edith Mae Shuler Ratts. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and attended New Life Baptist Church. Kenneth was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved his family very much. He was a self-employed businessman, auctioneer, and airplane pilot. Kenneth enjoyed racing vintage racecars as well as singing and writing songs. He was also a talented musician who played many musical instruments and was inducted into the Music Hall of Fame. Kenneth said, “I did everything in life I wanted to do!”

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Julie Ratts, of Adel; children Ginny (Tracy) Herring of Adel, Kevin (Tina) Sapp of Fitzgerald, and Shelly (Chad) Lott of Douglas, and daughter-in-law Becky Ratts of Adel; grandchildren Mandy (Patrick) Ward, Katie (Joe) Eunice, Brandon Ratts, Kyndall Herring, and Caleb, Emma, Ella, and Brody Lott; great grandchildren Matthew Eunice, Rebecca Ward, and Aaron and Andrew Eunice; nieces and nephew Morris Glen (Gloria) Warthen, Marsha (Jimmy) Carter, and Earleen Bixler. Kenneth was preceded in death by his first wife Melvinia Huff Ratts, son Doug Ratts, sister Eileen Warthen, and nephew Earl Dittemore.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Payne and Rev. Tommy Bussey officiating. Special music will be provided at Kenneth’s homegoing service. Kevin Sapp will play and sing Go Rest High on That Mountain. Render and Fredda Folsom and Donnie Branch will play and sing The Old Rugged Cross, Amazing Grace, and I Call it Home. Interment will follow at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Serving as active pallbearers are Brandon Ratts, Brody Lott, Caleb Lott, Aaron Eunice, Andrew Eunice, Eric Green, Jake Weeks, and Zackery Weeks. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Eunice, Donnie Branch, Mike Daugherty, John Flythe, Render Folsom, Ken Fox, Dr. Jairaj Goberdhan, and Sheriff Doug.
