Ron Daray Purvis, 27

Ron Daray Purvis, 27, of Adel passed away on January 28, 2024.  Born on October 15, 1996, Daray was a 2015 graduate of Cook High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

The simple pleasures of hunting, fishing and all things outdoors brought great joy to Daray.  He had an infectious smile that would light up a room and he loved to joke around. He is affectionately known to those around him as a “loveable person with a kind heart”.

Daray is survived by his parents, Ron and Kim Hughes Purvis; a sister, Adisyn Purvis; a brother, Jayden Purvis; grandparents, Ronnie and Shirley Purvis of Adel and Vernon and Mary Nell Hughes of Nashville; uncles and aunts, Audie and Rhonda Rowe of Adel, Steven and Tyann Purvis of Woodward, Oklahoma, Doug and Dana Hughes of Moultrie, and Greg and Shawna Hughes of Nashville; and several cousins with special memories of their life-long friend.  He is also survived by Lindsey Purvis and children Tucker, Reid and Sutton. Daray was preceded in death by his mother, Kimberly Luke.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 1, 2024 at New Life Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Gay, and Rev. Chad Payne officiating. Interment followed at Antioch Church Cemetery.  Musical selections will include, “Lead Me Home”, “Good Day To Fly” by Jordan Rowe, and “Home.” Serving as active pallbearers were Steven Purvis III, Jordan Rowe, Ricky Fender, Garrett Heard, Dalton Rentz, Tom Thomas III, Ethan Thompson, and Hunter Erskine.  The Class of 2015 served as honorary pallbearers.
