Buddy Cantrell, 75

Buddy Cantrell, 75 of Nashville passed away Friday, January 19, 2024 at his home. Buddy was born January 24, 1948 to the late Larry & Helen McConnell Cantrell. He joined the United States Navy at the age of 18 years old. Buddy entered the into the service in 1966 and retired in 1987. He served two tours of Vietnam and traveled the world during his 21 years in the Navy. During his time in the Navy, Buddy served at the Pentagon and color guard for President Johnson. Buddy attended The Cross Church in Nashville and loved his family and his church family, he enjoyed being around people. He was an avid Braves fan and recently enjoyed going to one of their games. He also enjoyed fishing and doing woodwork.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Cantrell, whom he married on March 7, 1977 and was married for 46 years; daughter, Alice (Vic) Ashley of Adel; son, Delane (Crystal) Blankenship of Lake Park; grandchildren, Caleb Blankenship of Statenville, Emily & Matt Delashmit of Homerville, Ethan Blankenship of Statenville, Matthew & Alissa Ashley of Adel, and Anna Ashley of Adel; great grandson, Maverick Delashmit of Homerville; sister, Zebbie Cox of KY; niece, Mondy Denton of Ky; and cousin, Barbara Williams of Ray City; special friends, Janice & Larry Cooper of Nashville; and his special beloved yorkie, Sadie.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Purvis Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Martin officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.purvisfh.com. Purvis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
