Mr. LeRoy Howell, 90

Mr. LeRoy Howell, 90 of Adel, Georgia passed away at his residence on November 18, 2023. Mr. Howell was born January 24, 1933 in Adel, Georgia to the late Charlie Staten “C.S.”  Howell and Myrtice Orilla Flowers Howell.  Mr. Howell was a life long resident of Cook County and a retired farmer. He was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church for 79 years. He served in the United States Navy from June 1951 to June 1955 on the USS Bremerton during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Howell was a member of the Cook County Farm Bureau serving as President for 30 years, a founding member of the Cook County Livestock Association and served as a Director on the Alapaha District Soil and Water Conservation Board.

Mr. Howell is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Teresa Keene Howell, one daughter, Teresa Howell Parrish all of Adel; his grandchildren, Christopher and Crystal Howell, Whitney and Will Willis all of Adel; Justin Parrish of Atlanta, Georgia; Heath Tomlinson of Adel, great grandchildren, Leyton Tomlinson, Reece Tomlinson, Bella Howell, Howell Willis and Tallie Rae Willis all of Adel. Mr. Howell was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years, Irma Lee Thomas Howell; his granddaughter, Rebecca Parrish Tomlinson and his sister, Carolyn H. Brinson.

Funeral services were at 11:00 AM, Monday; November 20, 2023 at the Antioch Church with Rev. Jake Webster and Rev. Christie Bandy officiating and eulogies given by Lori Betts and John Henry Surrency.  Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Justin Parrish, Christopher Howell, Will Willis, Heath Tomlinson, Brandon Lilly and Byron Brown; Honorary pallbearers were Rex Lily, Jared Howell, Derry Bennett, Charlie Missildine, John Henry Surrency, Jonathan Surrency and the Overcomers Sunday School Class from the Antioch Church. Special selections sang by the congregation included “Amazing Grace”. Pianist was Sharon Mosley.

Visitation was held from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. Sunday November 19, 2023 at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. Flowers were accepted or memorials may be made to the Antioch Church or to the charity of your choice.
