Amy Pharr Hires, 49
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Amy Pharr Hires, who left us too soon on November 17, 2023, in a tragic car accident in Adel, Ga. Amy was born on August 5, 1974, to John Dale and Carol Pharr, Amy’s light touched everyone she knew.
Amy’s world revolved around her family, and she cherished her roles as a wife and mother. She raised two amazing sons and was so proud of them and their accomplishments. Her granddaughter held a special place in her heart, and Amy embraced her title of “M’Amy” with joy and warmth. Equally, she showered affection on Piper, her cherished dog, who she treated as part of the family.
Known for her impeccable style, Amy was a true “Maxxinista,” seamlessly blending her love for fashion with her role as the manager of TJ Maxx. Cheetah print and high heels were her signature, and she wore them with the same grace and confidence that characterized every aspect of her life.
Amy’s adventurous spirit led her to value experiences and memories, and she was always ready for a new trip to plan. Her 49 years were filled with more travel and exploration than most experience in a lifetime. Her commitment to her faith was evident in the way she loved and treated others. Amy showed the love of Christ in all she did, and it brings the family comfort knowing she’s in the arms of Jesus.
As manager of TJ Maxx in Valdosta of over 25 years, Amy was not just respected but adored by her associates and customers. Her kindness and warmth endeared her to everyone she encountered, making her a beloved figure in her workplace and community. Amy’s impact was far-reaching, and her absence will be deeply felt by her family, friends, and the community she so selflessly served.
Amy is survived by her loving husband, Michael Hires of Adel; her cherished sons, Gage (Haley) Barnes of Adel, Bradyn Barnes of Adel, and stepson, Austin Hires of Rockport, TX; and her granddaughter, Norah Barnes of Adel. She is also survived by her grandmother, Eleanor Welch of Lenox; parents, John Dale and Carol Pharr of Lenox; her sister Patti (Todd) Franklin of Lenox; and her mother-in-law, Betty Hires of Lake Park. Amy’s memory will be carried on by her sisters-in-law, Tessie Hires and Sherry Sorrell, along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, coworkers, and loyal customers.
Amy is preceded in death by her father-in-law, Aaron Hires, and her brother-in-law, Stanley Hires. While we mourn her passing, we celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the love she shared with all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Funeral services to celebrate Amy’s life will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Lenox Baptist Church with Pastor Carl Metzger and Pastor James Connor officiating. Interment will follow at Lenox City Cemetery beside the church.
