Mrs. Evelyn McCranie, 92
Mrs. Evelyn, a beloved member of the Adel community and a pillar of strength, left this world to be with the Father on November 8, 2023, at the age of 92. She will forever be remembered as a cherished individual who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Born and raised in Adel, Mrs. McCranie had an unwavering dedication to her community. Her love for daylilies, which she shared with enthusiasm and passion, led her to become the first Daylily Queen of Adel. It was through her efforts and admiration for these beautiful flowers that Adel earned the honorable title of the “City of Daylilies.” Her visionary spirit and relentless dedication to preserving the natural beauty of her hometown will continue to inspire generations to come.
A woman of deep faith, Evelyn was a devout member of her church community. With her unwavering commitment to her beliefs, she served as a shining example of living a life rooted in love and compassion. Not one to hold back, she fearlessly spoke her mind. Her fiery spirit was never deterred, and her words resonated deeply with all those fortunate enough to know her.
Mrs. McCranie’s strength was not only evident in her character but also in the impact she made on others. Through her unwavering faith and deep conviction, she led many souls to find solace in the Lord. Her compassionate heart, coupled with her powerful testimony, left a mark on the lives she touched.
Outside of her church, she was an integral part of the Adel community. Whether it was lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need or enthusiastically participating in local events, she exemplified the true essence of community spirit. Her love for her town and its people knew no bounds, and her dedication to collective well-being served as a guiding light for all.

Evelyn F. McCranie is preceded in death by her husband Reuben McCranie; her father and mother Mr. WC and Mrs. Gracie Fulghum; and her brothers, Herbert, Hubert, Arthur, and James Fulghum. She is survived by two sons and their wives: Raymond D. and Iris Reddick as well as Dennis and Elaine Reddick; her sister, Lucille Hartle; her grandchildren, Jennifer Davis, Laine Reddick, Ernie and Shelli Phillips, and Cale and Kristi Giddens; her great-grandchildren, Nick and Emily Brumfield, Katie Davis, Riley Phillips, and Emma Grace Phillips; and her great-great-grandchildren, Cale Giddens, Jr. (Two) and Brooks Brumfield.
Funeral services to celebrate Mrs. Evelyn’s life was held on November 11, 2023 at Purvis Funeral Home with Rev. Nick Kinsey officiating. Interment followed at Sparks City Cemetery.
