Mrs. Jewel W. Hunt, 79
Mrs. Jewel W. Hunt, age 79, of Adel, Georgia passed away November 2, 2023 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia. Mrs. Hunt was born January 28, 1944 in Port St. Joe, Florida to the late Robert Henry Welch and Annie Bell Gaskins Welch. She lived in Colquitt, Georgia for many years before moving to Cook County 38 years ago. Mrs. Hunt was a member of Massee Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Mrs. Hunt is survived by six sons and three daughters-in-law: Billy and Lisa Welch of Adel, Bobby and Tonya Hunt of Waycross, Georgia, Jerry Hunt and David Hunt both of Bainbridge, Georgia, Ray Hunt of Adel, Loyce and Helen Hunt of Dothan, Alabama; three daughters and sons-in-law: Brenda and John Lewis of Adel, Norma and Frank Richardson of Bainbridge, Debbie and Glenn McMillian of Colquitt, Georgia; two brothers: Henry Welch of Lenox, Georgia and Doug Welch of Tifton, Georgia; two sisters: Helen Hunt of Dothan, Alabama and Ann Cook of Nashville, Georgia, 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Shelly A. Hunt; her son, Shelly Eugene Hunt; her daughter, Donna Hunt; step-sons: Wayne Hunt and Royce Hunt; her step-daughter, Joyce Hunt; four brothers: Gene Welch, James Welch, Allen Welch, Johnny Welch; and one sister, Betty W. Goolsby.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Hendley officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Boone Funeral Home, Inc. Billy Welch Jr., Chris Welch, Shawn Lewis, Timmy Beal, David “D.J.” Hunt and Joe Lance Godwin served as pallbearers. “Roses for Mama”, “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”, “I’ll Meet You on the Other Side” and “When We All Get to Heaven” were special music selections included in the service.
