Lila Patricia “Patsy” Purvis, 69, of Alapaha passed away on October 29, 2023, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Pat was born on January 2nd and just narrowly missed being the first baby born in Adel in 1954. She lived in South Georgia for 69 years and met the love of her life there. Pat and Larry were married on September 30, 1972, and remained married throughout the duration of Pat’s life. They just celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Her legacy is carried on by her two daughters, two grandchildren, her beloved round dog, Lilly, three surviving siblings, and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life. Pat’s signature moves included being chronically late, leaving small wadded napkins in her wake, and filling silence with chatting. She was known for her jovial spirit and was well-loved by everyone who knew her. She loved her family, traveling, shopping, and animals. Pat never met a stranger and had a kind, loving nature.
Pat is survived by her husband, Larry Purvis of Alapaha; daughters, Melissa Willis (Mike Mounts) of Tallahassee, FL, and Denise Purvis (Donald Shaw) of Pittsburgh, PA; sisters, Mary (Larry) Rollins and Julia (Dalton) Purvis and brother, Buddy (Gail) Kelly of Jacksonville, FL; and grandchildren Connor and Caris Willis of Tallahassee, FL. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Anita Cid, and brothers, Donald and Larry Kelly.Funeral services were held Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Purvis Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Bennett officiating. Interment was held at Mount Paron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Alapaha. Serving as pallbearers were Connor Willis, Randy Southerland, Jansen Purvis, Bob Vaughn, Mike Mounts, Brian Watson, Ronnie Harris, Don Cornelius, Lamar Vowell, Micah Willis, and Donald Shaw.
