Mr. Robert Ashley “Bobby” Rutland, 75
Mr. Robert Ashley “Bobby” Rutland, age 75, passed away at his home in Lenox, Georgia on September 17, 2023. He was born in Tifton, Georgia, on May 23, 1948. His parents were the late Lawrence Green Rutland, Sr. and Lola Jane Griffin Rutland. Mr. Rutland lived most of his life in Cook County where he was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and was retired from Family Dollar Store where he served as manager.
Mr. Rutland is survived by his wife, Angie Harris Rutland of Lenox; four sons and a daughter-in-law: Clay Rutland of Carrabelle, FL, Bo Justin Rutland of Glennville, GA, Jade Rutland of Gainesville, FL, Drew and Teresa Rutland of Tifton, GA; three daughters and sons-in-law: Jill and Ret. Lt. Col. Scott Blount of Madison, AL, Terrie and Tony Dinkins of Naylor, GA, Angie and Tim Sirmans of Ray City, GA; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters and a brother-in-law: Bonnie Carmichael of Tifton, Sara Rutland of Smith Lake, AL, Susie and Don Harris of Lenox, and Cindy Spurlin of Lenox; and a sister-in-law, Nina Rutland of Lenox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers: Lawrence G. Rutland Jr., Roy Rutland, Larry Rutland, Ted Rutland and an infant brother; and three sisters: Iris Chapman, Betty Jane Penney and Patsy Ruth Rutland.
The funeral service for Mr. Rutland was held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home South with Rev. Brad McVea officiating and the eulogy being provided by Michelle Spearman. Interment follow at Rutland Cemetery in Tift County with Rev. Don Harris officiating, Mr. James Lawson reciting a poem and Rev. McVea providing a prayer. Visitation took place at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. Tony Dinkins, Dallas Rutland, Ethan Blount, Cole Rutland, Cameron Rutland, Gage Rutland and Tristan Rutland served as active pallbearers; Larry Rutland Jr., Eagle Spurlin and Ted Spurlin served as honorary pallbearers. Brent Saunders sang “Amazing Grace,” Larry Rutland Jr. sang “I Can Only Imagine” and Bo Rutland sang “I Will Rise” at the service and “Dad” was played at the graveside.
