Mrs. Wilda Dorman, 80

Mrs. Wilda Dorman, 80 of Tifton passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023 at her home. Wilda was born October 26, 1942 and raised in Eldorado Georgia and went to Tifton High School where she graduated in 1961. She married her best friend, Tommy, on February 23, 1964 and they were married for 59 years. Wilda and Tommy moved to Lakeland, Florida where they began pastoring the Church of God in Umatilla in 1968. They also pastored in Dundee and Dowling Park, Florida. While in Florida their two children, Shannon and Deidre were born. In 1972 they moved back to Eldorado Georgia with their children to be near family and to pastor the Enigma Church of God.

Wilda began an 18 year banking career with the Bank of Tifton and ended with The Farmers Bank of Tifton (First Community Bank). In 1980 she went to work for the United States Post Office. She retired from the post office in 2006 as the Post Master of the Sumner, GA post office. Since retirement, she has lovingly worked as receptionist for Purvis Funeral Home and The Orchard at Stone Creek where she was able to help people in the toughest stages of life. She was also a caregiver for multiple families in the Tifton area.

She was a great cook and she loved it when her gardens bloomed with beautiful colors every year.  She had an eye for fashion and was always seen sporting the best styles. She also loved to travel. Wilda worked hard, loved deep and provided endless love and support to her husband, children and grandchildren. She prayed ceaselessly for her family and anyone who crossed her path. She was a prayer warrior. She wanted everyone to be with her in Heaven one day.  She had a special bond with her siblings and a great love for her nieces and nephews.  She had a special place in her heart for her little dog Chloe, who passed away just 4 days before her on August 28, 2023. She is now rejoicing in Heaven with the ones that have preceded her.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. Tommy Dorman of Tifton; son, Shannon (Stephanie) Dorman of Tifton; daughter, Deidre Kendrick (Rick Paradis) of Forsyth, GA; granddaughters, Julianne Kendrick of Maryland, and Emily (Tyler) Cain of Locust Grove, GA; and her sister, Florence Crumley of Tifton. Wilda was preceded in death by her parents, Harrell & Mattie Maude Shannon Peele; brothers, Billy Peele, and Ray Peele; and sister, Martha Jean Groselle.
