Mr. Alan Wetherington, 74
Mr. Alan Wetherington, age 74, of Hahira, Georgia, passed away September 1, 2023 at the Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, Georgia. Mr. Wetherington was born September 29, 1948 in Hahira to the late Julian Walter Wetherington and Sudie Lewis Wetherington. He lived in Moultrie, Georgia and Dothan, Alabama prior to returning to Cook County 15 years ago. He was a retired Senior Engineer with GTE/ Windstream Telephone Co. with almost 40 years of service. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Mr. Wetherington is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law: Missy and Todd Hood, Marie and Tony Giudicy, all of Moultrie; Life Companion, Linda Schramm Wetherington of Adel, Georgia; two step-sons and daughters-in-law: Joey and Emily Schramm, Steve and Terri Schramm, all of Adel; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Susie and David Abbott of Lakeland, Georgia; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Roberta Wetherington and niece, Melissa Newpert of Simpsonville, South Carolina. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Wetherington and Van Wetherington.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 3, 2023 in the Chapel of of Boone Funeral Home (1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel) with Bro. David Abbott officiating. Interment followed at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. “Daddy’s Hands”, “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” and “Go Rest High on That Mountain” were played at the service. Michael Hood, T.J. McKellar, Aidan McKellar, Cash Lowry, Bo Schramm, Ashton Abbott, Dalton Schramm and Devin Schramm served as pallbearers.
