Mr. James Thomas “Tom” Daughtrey, Jr., 71

Mr. James Thomas “Tom” Daughtrey, Jr. passed away March 13, 2023 at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, Georgia. He was born January 1, 1952 in Cook County to the late James Thomas “Buck” Daughtrey, Sr. and Gwendolyn Allen Rentz Daughtrey. He lived most of his life in Cook County and the past 16 years in Valdosta. Mr. Daughtrey was the owner of Valdosta Plant Company and VPC Produce. He was of the Methodist faith.

Mr. Daughtrey is survived by his wife, Ann Hull Daughtrey of Valdosta; his daughter, Heather Daughtrey of Hahira, Georgia; three grandchildren: Gwendolyn Grace Daughtrey of Valdosta, James Porter Daughtrey and Danny Autrey, both of Hahira; one brother and sister-in-law, Guy and Connie Daughtrey of Lenox, Georgia; one sister, Virginia Henderson of Covington, Georgia; and several nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, James Thomas “Jake” Daughtrey, III.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Johnson and Rev. Ike Jefferson officiating.  Interment followed at Woodlawn City Cemetery. Visitation was held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.  Steve Meders sang “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)” and “How Great Thou Art”. Active pallbearers were Chase Daughtrey, Andrew Henderson, Allen Henderson, Wade Greene, Jimmy Collier and Stuart Avera; honorary pallbearers were Wayne Collier, Carl Fletcher, Owen McDaniel, Jerry Edwards, Jerry Kelley, Dr. Jay Goberdhan, Ashley Fowler, Lee Edwards, Jason Bullard, Jeff Bullard and Gene Long.
