Mr. Vance Mashburn, 94
Mr. Vance Mashburn, age 94, of Adel, Georgia passed away January 9, 2023 at his residence. Mr. Mashburn was born on August 29, 1928 in Chula, Georgia to the late Alva Dewey Mashburn and Inez Vance Mashburn. He lived most of his life in Cook County and was a member of New Covenant Church in Valdosta, Georgia. He was retired from Production Credit Association and also served honorably as a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict where he was a navigator for B-24 Bombers. Mr. Mashburn was also a Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rubye Hughes Mashburn of Adel; three sons and two daughters-in-law: Greg and Sharon Mashburn of Hahira, Georgia; Michael Mashburn of Valdosta, Georgia; David and Pam Mashburn of Auburn Alabama; one daughter, Dawn Mashburn of Valdosta; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Mance Cloud of Adel; six grandchildren: Ian and Lena Mashburn of Palm Coast, Florida; Spencer Mashburn of Atlanta, Georgia; Carter Mashburn of Valdosta; Mitchell and Pate Mashburn of Troy, Alabama; Aaron Mashburn of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Trevor Mashburn of Auburn, Alabama; six step-grandchildren: Chris Thomas of Valdosta; Jennifer and Kevin Stevenson of Folkston, Georgia; David Stokes of Savannah, Georgia; Trevor Stokes of Adel; Ellen Stokes of Adel; and Stephanie Smith of Adel; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter-in-law, Wanda Shiflett Mashburn.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Woodlawn City Cemetery with Military Honors being provided by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1090. Interment will follow. Mance Cloud will sing “Amazing Grace” and “Go Rest High on That Mountain” at the service. Pallbearers will include Ian Mashburn, Spenser Mashburn, Carter Mashburn, Mitchell Mashburn, Aaron Mashburn and Trevor Mashburn. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM at Boone Funeral Home, Inc., 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., Adel, Georgia immediately prior to the graveside service.
