Mr. Raymond Stone, 70
Mr. Raymond Stone, age 70, of Tifton, Georgia passed away November 17, 2022 at his residence. Mr. Stone was born October 2, 1952 in Lowndes County to the late Lester Stone and Ida Lucille Pitts Stone. He lived in Lenox, Georgia, then Charleston, South Carolina for 16 years and the last 22 years in Tifton. Mr. Stone was the owner of The Carpet Man Floor Covering and a member of Remount Baptist Church in Charleston. He also was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. Stone is survived by his wife, Gail Jones Stone of Tifton; three sons and one daughter-in-law: Chris Stone, Brian Stone, Keith and Crissy Stone, all of Fitzgerald, Georgia; seven grandchildren: Wade and A.J. Stone of Fitzgerald, Kelsey Stone of Valdosta, Georgia, Taylor Stone Barber and Thomas Barber of Tifton, Chase Stone of Marietta, Georgia, Brianna Stone, Dylan Holt and Lacey Stone, all of Fitzgerald; five great grandchildren: Madison Moore and MaKenzie Barber, both of Tifton, Raya Harper of Valdosta, Harleigh Kay Hutchinson of Fitzgerald, and Jayden Barber of Tifton; three brothers and one sister-in-law: James A. Stone of Lenox, Georgia, Charlie and Sharon Stone of Tifton and Bobby W. Stone of Lenox; a host of nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents Mr. Stone was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Louise Fowler, two brothers: Robert M. Stone and John Lester Stone; and a half-brother, William L. Webb.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Stone officiating. Interment followed at Lenox City Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1090. Visitation was held one hour prior to the of service at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home; 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave.; Adel, Georgia. Wade Stone, Chase Stone, Chad Stone, John Stone, Andy Stone and Kirk Lawler served as pallbearers. Jeffrey Stone and Debra Redlinger sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and Kelsie Stone sang “Amazing Grace”.
