Mr. Alan Everett Moore, 60

Mr. Alan Everett Moore, 60, of Hahira, Georgia, died Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Tift Reginal Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.  He passed peacefully with his family at his side.  He was born July 8, 1962 in Denver, Colorado to the late Guy Koonce Moore and Monica Essling Moore.  He was of the Catholic faith and was preceded in death by his father Guy Koonce Moore, paternal grandparents Cecil and Marie Moore, and maternal grandparents William and Rose Essling.

Alan worked in law enforcement with the Morven Police Department and was especially attentive to the elderly community of Morven.  He had previously worked with the Sparks Police Department and the Cook County Sheriff’s Department.  He was a retired Chief Petty Officer with the United States Navy after having served 24 years.  Alan enjoyed hunting, making people laugh with the stories he told, and getting together with family.

He is survived by his mother, Monica Essling Moore of Hahira, and siblings Raymond Moore of Jackson, Tennessee; Christina Holland of Nashville, Georgia; Cynthia Holt of Covington, Tennessee; Melanie Sanders of Hahira; David Moore of Enigma, Georgia; Rebecca Moore of Bartlett, Tennessee; Evelyn Moore of Hahira; Colleen (Jason Byrd) Purvis of Ray City, Georgia; and numerous nephews, nieces and great nephews.

Alan will be remembered in a Rosary at 6:00 PM with a Celebration of Life potluck afterwards on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Ray City.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 9:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church where Military Honors will be provided by members of the United States Navy.  He will be laid to rest at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, Georgia at 2:30 PM following the Funeral Mass.
