Van Joe Belflower, 75

Van Joe Belflower, 75, of Adel passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. His funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2022, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Chad Payne officiating. Mr. Belflower was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Josh Belflower, John Thomas Belflower, Terry Mayne, David Carr, Michael Haman and Dr. Chris Gibbs served as pallbearers.

Born June 20, 1947, in Tifton, Mr. Belflower was the son of the late Willie Joe Belflower and Betty Howell Belflower Castagna. Before retiring, he held various heavy equipment management positions with John Deere and Caterpillar dealerships. He was an ordained deacon and a member of New Life Baptist Church in Adel. He also served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. He was affectionately known by his grandchildren as “Grandy”.

Mr. Belflower is survived by his wife, Donna Mathis Belflower of Adel; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Susan Belflower of Macon and Brian and Kristy Belflower of Frisco, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Sally Belflower of Chula; one sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Michael Haman of Nashville, Tennessee; and three grandchildren, Josh Belflower, John Thomas Belflower and Emma Belflower.
