Mrs. Jewell Newbern, 93
Mrs. Jewell Newbern, age 93, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on October 26, 2022 at the Berrien Nursing Center in Nashville, Georgia. She was born in Lenox, Georgia on October 17, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Maddie Bell Fender Duren. Mrs. Newbern lived most of her life in Cook County where she was a member of Westside Baptist Church and a retired machinist with Metal Products.
Mrs. Newbern is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Donald Moore, Jr. of Adel; two grandchildren and their spouses: Andy and Kelly Womack of Cumming, Georgia and Chase and Marcella Moore of Adel; two great-grandchildren: Ty Womack and Mason Womack, both of Cumming; and a sister, Hazel Duren of Adel. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers: Charles, Ronald, Bobby and Donald Duren; and five sisters: Martha Nickel, Jackie Wallace, Grace Smallwood, Alma Cook and Mary Alice Duren.
The funeral services for Mrs. Newbern were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Westside Baptist Church in Adel with Rev. Scotty Mathis and Rev. Johnny Hendley officiating. The visitation was held at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment took place at New Life Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Andy Womack, Ty Womack, Chase Moore, Timmy Wright, Dewade Bostic and Scott Shealey served as pallbearers. “At the Cross”, “I’ll Meet You in the Morning” and “I Want Us to be Together in Heaven” were played at the service.
