Mr. Houston Tyson, age 77, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on October 21, 2022 at his residence. He was born on August 24, 1945 in Cook County to the late Robert Woodard Tyson and Venice Brunell Kelly Tyson. Mr. Tyson lived all of his life in Cook County and was a retired telephone cable splicer. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam.
Mr. Tyson is survived by his wife, Brenda Smith Tyson of Adel; a brother, Bobby Tyson of Hahira, Georgia; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Wayne and Pat Smith of Moultrie, Georgia, Jane Folsom of Valdosta, Georgia, Sherrell Smith of Thomasville, Georgia, and Cheryll Smith of Adel; two nieces and their spouses: Stephanie and Dutch McElvey, Rebecca “Becky” and Todd Alderman, all of Hahira; several great nieces and nephews: Caleb Spikes, Ava Grace McElvey, Tyson Alderman and Eli Alderman, all of Hahira; special nieces: Tomi Rhai Richardson, Joely Richardson and Brooklyn Richardson, all of Adel; and special nephews: Jru Turner and Noa Turner, both of Adel.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Smith and Rev. Michael Brannon officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors being presented by the United States Marine Corps. The Rountree Family Singers will sing “I Want Us to Be Together in Heaven” and a recording of “Angels Among Us” will also be played at the service. Ron Smith, Dutch McElvey, Todd Alderman, Caleb Spikes, Tyson Alderman, Eli Alderman, Kevin “Bo” Rountree and Luke Rountree will serve as pallbearers. Visitation took place from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel.
