Gene Pierce, 82
Mr. Gene Pierce, 82, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on April 22, 2022 at the Fellowship Home in Nashville, Georgia. Mr. Pierce was born November 15, 1939 in Cleveland, Tennessee, to the late Carl William Pierce and Icie Hamby Pierce. He lived most of his life in Marietta, Georgia and moved to Cook County around 2000. Mr. Pierce was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Berrien County and a Mason with Kennesaw Lodge 33 F&AM of Marietta, Georgia. He was a retired dry wall contractor and owner of Gene’s Pawn Shop.
Mr. Pierce is survived by his son, Michael Pierce of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son-in-law, Jeff Lunceford of Adel; grandchildren, Shawn Lunceford and Sarah Lunceford, both of Adel; brother, Jack Pierce of Forsyth, Georgia; and a sister, Martha Baldwin of Acworth, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Dorminey Pierce; a daughter, Leisha Lunceford; his second wife, Sylvia Ford Pierce; a brother, Billy Pierce; and a sister, Shirley Pierce.
A graveside service was held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Woodlawn City Cemetery with Rev. Johnny Hendley officiating. Interment followed. “Amazing Grace” and “Go Rest High on That Mountain” were played at the service.
