George Raymond Lisenby, 82

George Raymond Lisenby, 82 of Lenox passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Tift Regional Medical Center. Mr. Lisenby was born February 9, 1940 to the late George Martin Lisenby & Mary Ida Walker Lisenby. He retired as pastor of The Church of God. Mr. Lisenby lived his life since he was 23 years old sharing the gospel message. His lifework was painting and wallpapering. In fact, George Raymond having dyslexia was not properly taught in those distant early childhood days. Having overheard a teacher say he would never amount to anything, this brilliant young boy made up his mind that he certainly would give life his best. His brain
was a sponge and having seen something once he could do it forever.

Survivors include his current wife, Betty Lisenby of Lenox; children, Martin Lisenby of Ocilla, James Lisenby of Ocilla, Cynthia (Richard) Bailey of FL, Victoria Latta of Ocilla, Teresa (Gerard) Grinnage of AL; Kimberly Quillin of Adel; stepson, Benn (Akino) Barr of CA; stepdaughter, Babs (Tim) Tate of Douglasville, GA. 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Hall of Roswell, GA, Jacqueline Giddens of West Berrien, Linda Sue Braswell of Tifton; and sister in love Gloria Lisenby of Lenox. George Raymond was preceded in death by his previous spouse, Barbara Jean Bentley Lisenby; and his brother, Larry Lisenby.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. John Cox, and Rev. Gerald Mallard officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the church from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at purvisfh.com.
