Wayne Boyette, 81
Mr. Wayne Boyette, 81, of Adel, Georgia, passed away on December 18, 2021 at Southwell Medical in Adel. He was born on July 16, 1940 in Lowndes County to the late Russell Hill Boyette and Wilma Lena Futch Boyette. Mr. Boyette was a retired farmer and a member of New Life
Baptist Church. He and his wife were longtime members of The Believers, a well-known gospel music group. Mr. Boyette is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Nell Lasseter Boyette of Adel; a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Hannah Boyette of Adel; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Greg Mathis of Nashville, Georgia; five grandchildren: Kristie Boyette Purvis, Laura and Bubba Bailey, Rebecca and Caleb Brady all of Adel, Morgan and Patrick Philpot of Nashville, Marlee and Eric Morris of Alapaha, Georgia; great grandchildren: Noah Purvis, Isaac Kennedy, Grayson Kennedy, Brook Bailey, Jake Bailey, Caden Brady, Brynlee Brady all of Adel, Ellie Rose Morris of Alapaha and Grant Philpot of Nashville; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Sherry Carter, Kathy and Robin McDaniel all of Adel. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Boyette were held at 3:00 PM on Monday, December 20, 2021 at New Life Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Payne, Rev. Donnie Duncan and Rev. Ike Jefferson officiating. Interment followed at Wilkes Cemetery. Bubba Bailey, Caleb Brady, Corey Mackie, Eric Morris, Patrick Philpot, Dan Alan Taylor, Dewade Bostic and Ike Jefferson served as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers included Fred Palmer, Junior Bennett, Billy Betts, Thad Marshall, Dwight Marshall, Wade Marshall, Tim “Doc” Giddens, Jack Joiner, Kirk McDaniel, William Huffstuttler, Junior Folds, Roger McDaniel, Larry Corbett, Jeff Bradley, Van Murphy and Morris Henry. Dr. Tom Fausett played “When They Ring Those Golden Bells” on piano and the New Life Baptist Church choir sang “Beulah Land” and “I Call It Home” accompanied on piano by Lori Carnine. Recordings of The Believers singing “The Lighthouse” and “It Is Well” were also played at the funeral service. Visitation was held at New Life Baptist Church from 1:30 to 3:00 PM on Monday, December 20, 2021 prior to the funeral service. Condolences may be expressed online at www.boonefunerals.com.
