Mrs. Betty Rose Daughtrey, 81

Mrs. Betty Rose Daughtrey, 81, of Adel, Georgia passed away on December 18, 2021 at her residence. She was born on June 18, 1940 in Cook County to the late Willie Benjamin Montgomery and Evie Lee Lowery Montgomery. Mrs. Daughtrey lived all of her life in Cook County and was of the Baptist Faith. She was the owner and operator of Betty’s Diner in Valdosta, Georgia. Mrs. Daughtrey is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Dale and Lisa Daughtrey, Duke and Lana Daughtrey, all of Adel; two daughters and sonsin-law: Kim and Rob Alley of Sparks, Georgia and Robin and Chris Sumner of Alapaha, Georgia; nine grandchildren: Blake Daughtrey of Adel, Chance Alley, Charla and Blake Hilliard, Brooke and Caleb Gaskins, all of Sparks, Micaela Sumner of Alapaha, Peyton Daughtrey, Barbara Daughtrey, Dillon Daughtrey and Luke Daughtrey, all of Adel; two great grandchildren: Brock Alley of Adel and Alley Mae Hilliard of Sparks; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Debbie and Wayne Deason of Adel and Pam and Don Williams of Lenox, Georgia. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Henry “Bobby” Daughtrey; a grandson, Jake Daughtrey; and a sister, Shirley Hardy. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Stokes and Rev. Don Williams officiating and Mr. Justin Roberts providing the eulogy. Interment followed at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Cole Davis, Tony McCranie, T.J. Williams, Andrew Palopoli, Jerry Roberts and Drake Roberts served as active pallbearers; Wayne Deason, Glenn Copeland, Buckey Barrett, Tom Daughtrey, Whit Chappell and Edward Saggus served as honorary pallbearers. Vicky and Ricky Roberts and their sons sang “Go Rest High on That Mountain,” “The Old Rugged Cross” and “The Anchor Holds.” Other special music for the service was “Beauty in the Struggle.” A recording of “Amazing Grace” on bagpipes was played at the cemetery.
