Frances Walker, 84

Frances Walker, 84 of Lenox passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Treutlen Co. Health & Rehab. She was born on March 31, 1942, in Adel, Georgia, to the late Edward Leon Godwin & Fannie Bell Howell Godwin.

For many years, Frances worked as a secretary with the Cook County Board of Education, and retired in 2004 after a long and faithful career. In addition to her work outside the home, she was a devoted homemaker and a farmer’s wife, roles she embraced with strength and dignity. Frances loved the Lord and loved her family deeply. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of almost 67 years, Arlie Walker; her daughter, Beth Walker Connell; her son, Joey Walker and his wife Becky; her sisters, Bobbi Carlton, Mary Weeks, and Martha Woody; her brother, Ed Godwin and his wife Lynn; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her special roommate and friend, Ms. Emma Garrett. Frances was preceded in death by her son, Greg Walker; her great-grandson Remington Benjamin Walker; her brothers, Foster Godwin and Junior Godwin; and her sister, Louise Giddens.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Lakeview Baptist Church with Rev. John Braddy officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Phillip Walker, Chris Walker, Nick Walker, Austen Walker, Dusten Walker, Liam Walker, Arlie Walker and Trace Cox.
