Adel’s Jackson Johnson to compete in 2026 Warrior Games

The 2026 Warrior Games celebrates the valor, recovery and resilience of wounded, ill, injured service members and qualifying veterans along with their families, using the power of the games to drive healing, empowerment, and renewed purpose.

This year, the Games will take place in San Antonio, Texas, June 13-20, bringing together competitors from all over the U.S. representing all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces including: Army, Marine Corps, Navy/Coast Guard, Air Force/Space Force, and Special Operations Command.

A Georgia athlete to watch for at the Games is Sgt. Jackson Johnson from Adel, Ga.  Sgt. Johnson serves in the United States Marine Corps and is recovering from multiple knee injuries, including ACL, MCL, and meniscus damage. The recovery process has been physically and mentally demanding, requiring sustained rehabilitation and determination.

Of the nearly 200 Service Members participating in the 2026 Warrior Games, five competitors are from Georgia, representing Team Marine Corps, Team Navy, Team Air Force, and Team SOCOM. They will compete in 11 different adaptive sports including archery, cycling, field, indoor rowing, powerlifting, precision air sports, sitting volleyball, swimming, track, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair rugby as well as the new addition of pickleball as an exhibition sport.

Here are other Georgia athletes to watch for at the Games:

• Clement, Brandon (Cochran/ Air Force) – TSgt Brandon Clement has dedicated 14 years of service to the United States Air Force as a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist and currently is stationed at Laughlin Air Force Base. Throughout his career, Brandon has remained committed to caring for others, bringing that same strength and resilience into his own recovery journey.
• Hudson, Eric (Atlanta/ SOCOM)
• Oakes, Donald (Loganville/ SOCOM)
• Owens, Jeremy (Newnan/ Marine Corps) – Chief Warrant Officer 3 Jeremy Owens, from Newnan, Georgia, serves in the United States Marine Corps as a ground ordnance maintenance officer and is recovering from traumatic brain injury and chronic physical conditions developed over time. The recovery process has required persistence in diagnosis and adaptation to long-term challenges.

Founded in 2010 to enhance the recovery and rehabilitation of wounded, ill and injured military service  members and veterans through sports, the Warrior Games are an annual adaptive sports competition representing all military services: The Army, Marine Corps, Navy/Coast Guard, Air Force/ Space Force, and U.S. Special Operations Command.
