Last week for advanced voting in 2023 municipal elections
Advanced voting for the 2023 City of Adel and City of Cecil municipal elections will continue on Wednesday, Nov. 1, Thursday, Nov. 2, and Friday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Advanced voting is being held at the Cook County Administration Building, 1200 S. Hutchinson Ave., Adel.
Voting on Election Day will be held at registered voters’ assigned polling places in Adel or Cecil from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7.
The contested elections are:
City of Adel
• City Council District 1, Post 2 – Gregory Paige (incumbent); Vivian D. Sharpe.
• City Council District 2, Post 2 – Terry McClain (incumbent); Tabias Newsome.
City of Cecil
• James M. Spencer Sr. (incumbent); Talmadge Lamar Williams III.
The municipal candidates all qualified without opposition for new four-year terms in Lenox and Sparks, so Lenox and Sparks will not have to conduct municipal elections.
The winning Mayor and City Council candidates for each municipality will be sworn in for their new terms to begin in January 2024.
The last day to obtain an absentee ballot by mail for the municipal elections was Oct. 27, 2023.
