Woman allegedly drives getaway car for armed robbery

Jatajia Tyana Brown, 21, of West Fifth Street or Ward Circle, Adel, was arrested Oct. 27 and charged with party to a crime – armed robbery, according to the Adel Police Department.
According to a warrant taken by Adel Police Criminal Investigations, at about 10:36 p.m. Oct. 10, Ms. Brown allegedly aided other defendants in an armed robbery at a West First Street, Adel, address by driving them to the scene of the robbery, and then standing by with the getaway car during the commission of the robbery.
Ms. Brown was released from the Cook County Jail Oct. 28 on a $6,000 property bond. According to information reported during the first appearance/bond hearing in Magistrate Court, Ms. Brown has been employed and has been a college student; she has requested a court-appointed defense attorney.
The Cecil Police Department also has charged Ms. Brown with speeding, court records state. She allegedly was driving a 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 at 62 mph in a 45-mph zone at about 5 p.m. Oct. 15 at Highway 41 North/Old Coffee Road in Cecil.
The cases are pending in Cook County Superior Court.

Felony property damage
Michael Eric Knight, 27, 747 Highway 41, Cecil, was arrested Oct. 26 and charged with criminal damage to property, second degree – felony, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a warrant taken in the case, during offense times between 1 p.m. and 3:01 p.m. Oct. 24 in the 8000 block of Union Road, Cecil, Knight damaged multiple acres of woodland, private property, by fire. Knight allegedly left a campfire unattended, which resulted in the woods catching fire.
On Oct. 27, Cook County Magistrate Judge Ronnie Fender set bond at $6,000 (property). Bond conditions include do not return to the incident property unless accompanied by an officer, and then only to retrieve personal belongings. Court records state that Knight is not employed and has declined a court-appointed defense attorney.
• Johnnie L. Denson, 62, of Tifton was arrested Oct. 31 and charged with criminal damage to property, second degree – felony, according to the Adel Police Department.
According to a warrant, at about 11:14 p.m. May 6, 2022, at a North MLK Drive, Adel, address, Denson damaged the victim’s truck by puncturing three tires and scratching the hood. The cost of damage exceeded $500.
Denson was released from jail Nov. 1 on a $6,000 property bond. Bond conditions include no contact with the victim; do not go within 500 feet of him. Court records state that the accused has been employed and has requested a court-appointed defense attorney.
Drug offenses
Spencer Slade Rogers, 27, 4917 Greggs Road, Adel, was arrested Oct. 26 and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug-related objects, and seatbelt violation, according to the Georgia State Patrol, Tifton Post.
The alleged offenses occurred at about 8:52 p.m. Oct. 26 while Rogers was driving a 2007 GMC Yukon at MLK Drive and Fourth Street in Adel.
Rogers was released from jail Oct. 28 on a $9,600 property bond. According to court records, the accused has been employed and has requested a court-appointed defense attorney.
Battery
Samuel Joseph Spires, 31, 14844 Highway 41 North, Sparks, was arrested Oct. 28 and charged with simple battery/family violence, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a warrant, at about 1:56 a.m. Oct. 28 at the Sparks address, Spires struck a woman with an open hand, causing a busted lip, and threw a boot at her. The accused and victim are spouses.
Spires was released from jail the same date of arrest on a $5,000 property bond. Bond conditions include no contact with the victim; do not go within 500 feet of her. Court records state that Spires has requested a court-appointed defense attorney.
• Shirley Parks Player, 65, 1234 Highway 41 North, Cecil, was arrested Oct. 30 and charged with battery, according to the Cecil Police Department.
According to a warrant, at about 5:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Cecil address, Ms. Player struck a man on his back, arms, and head, causing welts, bruises, and lacerations.
Ms. Player was released from jail Oct. 31 on a $2,000 bond. Bond conditions include no contact with the victim. According to court records, the accused is retired and a caregiver, and has requested a court-appointed defense attorney.
• Willie Frank Williams, 35, of Quitman or Valdosta was arrested Oct. 27 and charged with simple battery, according to the Adel Police Department and Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a warrant taken by Adel Police, at about 2:33 p.m. Sept. 6, 2019, at an East Fourth Street, Adel, address, Williams struck a man on the left side of the victim’s face.
Williams was released the same date of arrest on a $1,200 bond.
