Lean-Ox Festival announces Grand Marshal

The Lean-Ox Festival Committee is proud to announce that Rep. Penny Houston will serve as the Grand Marshal for the 40th Annual Lean-Ox Festival. The festival parade will be on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, beginning at 11 a.m. in Downtown Lenox.
Houston serves as chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development, budgeting funds for the Department of Transportation, Department of Agriculture, Department of Community Affairs, Department of Economic Development, Georgia Ports Authority, World Congress Center, Georgia Forestry Division, Public Service Commission, and the Georgia Soil & Water Conservation Commission. She also serves on the Economic Development & Tourism, Banks & Banking, Ways & Means, and Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight committees.
“During her time in the General Assembly, Rep. Houston has secured funding for many projects in Lenox and Cook County, including water/sewer improvements in Adel, a federally qualified health care clinic for Lenox, and soon to be installed broadband internet in Lenox and Cook County. We are proud to honor her for all her contributions in our great community,” stated Chase Daughtrey of the Lean-Ox Committee.
Rep. Houston is an active member of the Nashville United Methodist Church She is a member of the Nashville Woman’s Club and the Berrien, Tift, and Cook County Chambers of Commerce, and serves as an executive member of Berrien County’s Chamber board. She is an honorary member of the Nashville Rotary Club. She has been involved with the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Homes for more than 30 years and currently serves as a member of the Boys Ranch Board of Directors in Hahira.
This year will commemorate the 40th Festival in Lenox, hindered by the recent coronavirus pandemic. The festival committee is excited to be back and bring a weekend of fun for the entire family.
