Trump carries Cook in Presidential election

On Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, former President Donald J. Trump was elected the 47th President of the United States. Official results showed he carried Cook County, Ga., by more than 73 percent of the total vote. Trump, also the 45th President, will take office in January 2025.

Nationwide, Trump, a Republican, won both the electoral college vote and the popular vote vs. Vice President Kamala Harris, a Democrat: 312 to 226; and 74,845,955 to 71,258,012 (as of Monday, Nov. 11). Trump carried the key swing state of Georgia by 50.7% of the vote as compared to 48.5% for Vice President Harris.

Total voter turnout for the 2024 general election in Cook County was 69 percent: 7,398 ballots were cast out of 10,760 registered voters.
