‘The Closet’ offers dressing for success, and more

A woman in an orange sweater is pointing at a wall with pamphlets and brochures in a clear case. Above that, "Community Resources" is lettered above the display.“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God has forgiven you.” – Ephesians 4:32

On Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, “The Closet,” a community outreach service of Holy Community Church, had its official opening and first Donors’ Appreciation Luncheon at Life After Birth (L.A.B.), 110 E. Fourth St., Adel.

Those in attendance joined The Closet’s organizers for an afternoon of meaningful conversations, inspiring stories, and a delicious meal, as they gathered to support the mission of assisting adults and working age students to properly dress for success.

The Closet is a community referral program to assist reformed and recovering adults with dressing for success, and more.

The program now helps working age high school students with job searches and college resumes.

Formal Attire donations are coming in for those students who desire to run for class officials or to attend school functions.

Chrishia Wilson, Community Resource Officer for Holy Community Church, thanked all the donors who have selflessly supported The Closet.

Holy Community Church Resource Office received grants for The Closet. The program is sponsored by Cook County Family Connection with funding from the Cook County Drug Treatment and Education Fund.

Chrishia Wilson gave a special thank you to Cook County Family Connection and the Cook County Judges. The program is  “continuing our work towards a Drug Free Community!” she said.
