Adel Police Department Announces New Child Seat Technician

The Adel Police Department is proud to introduce its newest Child Passenger Safety Technician, Corporal Katelynne Godwin.  Corporal Godwin, who serves as the agency’s Community Outreach Officer, recently earned her certification through the National Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) Certification Training Program, the leading authority in child passenger safety since 1997.

The CPST program, recognized globally as the gold standard in child safety education, has certified more than 230,000 technicians and instructors. These professionals play a critical role in community safety by providing handson child safety seat inspections and educating parents and caregivers on the correct use of car seats, booster seats, and seat belts.

Corporal Godwin completed an intensive four-day training that included classroom instruction, hands-on practice with a variety of car seats and vehicles, and participation in a community safety seat checkup event.  Adel’s Police Chief Audie Rowe expressed his pride in Corporal Godwin’s accomplishment and her dedication to community engagement.

“We are very excited to have Corporal Godwin certified as a Child Seat Technician,” Rowe said. “Our children are a blessing, and we should be doing everything in our power to make sure they are safe on our roadways.”

Chief Rowe added that Corporal Godwin will join forces with Sergeant Claire McClellan, who also possesses credentials as a Child Passenger Seat Safety Technician:  “I look forward to our technicians teaming up very soon to offer free child seat events for our community.”
